The Body Shop
The Body Shop began with a small shop in Brighton back in 1976. The business was originally founded by the late British environmental and human rights campaigner, Dame Anita Roddick. The first store sold just a handful of natural beauty products.
Anita began by mixing her own products and infusing them with the idea that business could be a force for good. Customers were encouraged to recycle packaging (partly because she didn't have enough bottles at first), but there was always a real emphasis on natural ingredients that were ethically sourced and cruelty-free. Now the range consists of over 300 products and there are more than 2500 stores worldwide.
